Hello, dear schoolchildrens.
I have tidings of great joy. Friday December 11th at 5:30 PM marks the time for all good choir students from WJHS to attend a joyous shindig where we will all do the following:
- Burn receipts from my reign as treasurer last year (2008-2009)
- Drink a variety of Stephen’s hot chocolate
- Sing (we are all choir nerds, so we really must sing)
- Enjoy delicious treats
- Eat sugar plums
- Snuggle
I’m kidding about the last two. I was merely alluding to the glorious Christmas movie, Elf.
Still. This is the Christmas shin-dig to not miss. It will be located at 2391 West 7575 South in West Jordan. It’ll be in the backyard, and even though there will be a raging receipt fire in the firepit, and even though there will be amazingly delicious hot chocolate that warms the soul (meaning both the body and the spirit), it’s bound to be awfully chilly, so come bundled up!
Admittance fee?
Yes. One (1) or more (+) of the following will be required upon entering the facility of the backyard:
- Treats (homemade will do as this is technically not a school activity. Neener-neener, District)
- Hot chocolate powder (Stephen’s is preferred, but all is welcome)
- Casholine for hot chocolate (I’ll be purchasing some of the Stephen’s variety; I get it for 25% off at Deseret Book, so why not? Seeing as how it will be eaten up quickly by greedy, snively schoolchildren, I don’t want to make the expenditure all out of my own pocket– I’ve got to pay for my mission, too, you know)
- A cheerful countenance and a glad heart (we don’t want any frumpy people ruining the Christmas spirit– I hope that you frumpy people (if any) will understand)
I hope to see you there! You don’t want to miss this momentous occasion!
Oh! PS! All choir alumni are invited also, so let them know!

Hello, dear West Jordan High School childrens (I say childrens because anyone younger than I am in a child. Sorry. It’s simply a fact of existence).
Eric Whitacre, the genius who wrote the song that you know and love (you know you love it) as Lux Aurumque, among other pieces such as Sleep, Water Night, and Nox Aurumque, is putting together something that is rather typical of him, and when I say typical, I mean genius, as he is typical of genius works. He is putting together a “virtual choir” of sorts to sing Lux Aurumque.
Who can be a part of said choir? And how is it done?
Anyone can be a part of it providing he or she can carry a tune and follow Mister Whitacre’s directions well enough. One also has to be comfortable with posting a video of him or herself that portrays him or her singing by him or herself (you’ll have headphones to listen to the parts as well as a video of Mister Whitacre conducting you).
Does this sound like something you’d be interested in? I expect you all to do this!
Read about it and get the video you need from this link. Though you already have the music, you can download the music in individual parts via this link.
See you… online!
PS: I started a vicious rumor about me getting my mission call to Copenhagen, Denmark. Don’t believe it or else I’ll laugh to your demise (I have laughed to many people’s demise as it is, and boy– is it glorious fun!). I haven’t gotten my call yet, but when I do, you will know. If it’s to Denmark, I will sing praises. If it’s not, I will still sing praises as it mattereth not where I am sent, only that I am sent and that I go.
